London

London -- HVAC Technician student Sean Nolan of London Ontario wins the 2014 Post-Secondary "Heating System Technician" Competition at the CMPX. The CMPX (Canadian Mechanical and Plumbing Exposition) is considered the main National Trade Show for Air Condition, Heating, Plumbing and Refrigeration. It was held this year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from March 19th to the 21st.

The CMPX is a source for new products, information, equipment and emerging issues for professionals in the HVAC industry. The 2014 CMPX featured over 500 exhibitors and approximately 25 workshops during it's three day show.

One of the main attractions of the CMPX is the access to the main players of the HVAC industry within the province and country. Attendance at the CMPX will feature a complete audience of installers, contracters, engineers and buyers who all work within the industry. This enables business and individuals to grow their business and network with important individuals.

The CMPX is owned and ran by the The Heating, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Institute of Canada(HRAI).

There was a written exam, a job interview, a mock up board that we had to wire, as well as a high efficiency furnace that we had to install.

What were the challenges/test that were involved in the Heating System competition at CMPX?

Having so many people watching you, it put a lot of pressure on you.

How did you training at NATS help you with this competition?

Having so much hands on training definitely help a lot, it was second nature for me at this point and having so many distractions at the competition didn't detract from my ability to do the tasks

Tell us something that you learned at the CMPX or the competition that you won.

That I am very happy that I took this course at NATS instead of one of the other schools.
